2010 – 59 West’s “Last Band To Stand” Competition – Guidelines & Rules

59’s Last Band Standing Competition….Searching for Huron Valley’s Best Band…

Held on Friday October 15th in 59 West’s – West End Restaurant.
1. All Band Applications and Music Samples in CD

or U-tube link form must be received by October 4th 2010.

The top 6 groups will be The selected groups will be notified by telephone or email.

2. Incomplete entries will be disqualified. Bands must submit the application form and demo to qualify. Materials will not be returned.

3. Each band that competes must play for at least 20 minutes to a maximum of 30 minutes.
4. A stage crew will be on hand to assist each band in setting up and sound check. It is the band’s responsibility to set gear and be ready to perform within the allotted time.
5. Stage management has final say on all activities on stage. Any band going over the minimum or maximum minute limit, or disregarding event management’s direction about anything, including safety and time, may be disqualified or powered off.
6. Celebrity Judges along with Audience votes determine the “Last Band to Stand Winner”
7. If your group is chosen to compete time requests will not be considered, no time slots are guaranteed, and if you enter, you need to be available at any time.
8. Associates of Fifty Nine West, LLC are not able to participate.
9. 59’s – “Last Band to Stand is open to amateurs only. For the purpose of this contest, an amateur is somebody without a major-label recording contract who makes less than half their annual income by performing.

11. 59 West is not responsible for any damage or theft during the Last Band to Stand competition. ONLY Band members are responsible for the security of their equipment and the event organizers cannot be held liable for any lost, damaged, or stolen equipment.

12. The entire performance must be live – no prerecorded music is allowed.

13. Criteria to be considered include: Stage presentation, Sound Volume & Clarity, Band Synchronization, Time Management, Song Quality & Originality, Stage Management, Band Enthusiasm & Attitude, and Audience Response. Judges will award points in each category using a point system. Audience votes will also be gathered based on 1 point per 1 audience members vote. The points for both audience and judges will be added up to determine the winner. If bands end up in a tie, the following individual category scores will decide the winner (in order): Stage Presentation, Song Quality & Originality, and Audience Response.

14. All bands agree to have their name, voice, and/or likenesses used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without any compensation or rights to royalties for such use.  Must be 18 or older to compete.

16. A general sound system will be provided for the contest. Band members must provide all other musical instruments and equipment necessary for their performance.

15. All bands selected to play in 59’s “Last Band to Stand” Competition must reply to 59 West’s Special Events office at 248-889-3004(Ext 4) no later than October 9th at 248-889-3004 (Ext 4).. Any bands that fail to submit their application, music sample and contact 59 West by October 9th will not be allowed to take part in the competition.
